Amid corona outbreak, Kamalnath resigns as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh

On 17 December 2018 Kamalnath had taken oath as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and after a tenure of almost 15 months, he has resigned from the top post. The resignation letter was sent to the governor before the floor test after the supreme court had asked the speaker of the house to have the floor test done on the same day. Kamalnath offered the resignation before the floor test as he could not score the numbers required to save his government.


 Going by the current in the political streets of the state, it was already being speculated, after Scindia left the Congress party on 9th March along with the news that he has support of some other 20 MLAs of the party.After the resgnaton, Kamalnath has thanked the people of the state and have said that he will keep working for them.


Since Scindia's left the party, Kamalnath said at mutliple instances that the party has the numbers and will be ale to save the govenment and the MLAs are being kept in Banglore are under pressure. However, none of the party member could get in touch with any pf the rebalious MLAs. And the speaker kept receving the resignation letters from them. Seniour party leader Digvijay Singh had reached at the banglore hotel and sat on a Dharna when he was not allowed to go inside the hotel.


Governer Lalji Tandon has accepted the resignation letter from the chief minister.
