PM Modi addresses the nation over corona, asks to exercise a volunteer curfew on 22nd March
Prime Minister Modi this thursday evening came out to address the nation over the corona outbreak.
India is still in its phase two of the virus outbreak. Considering the vast population and unavailability of the facilities which will be required in case the pandemic spread more viciously in the country, the beloved prime minister addressed the nation.
Since the announcement that Modi will be addressing at 8pm on thursday evening, there were many assumptions flownin in the various news corridors. Some rumours stating that modi is going to announce a complete lockdown like Italy, found great space on social media. People were seen making comments that something big is going to happen just like demonetisation.
At 8 PM , thursday evening, the prime minister came out with a message on corona virus addressing the nation. He called out the spread of Corona virus a global pandemic which had led to a situation where the countries are not being able t help each other. He asked the citizens to come together and fight the situation. He asked for a few weeks time from the citizens and asked the countrymen to stay inside the houses as much as possible.
Describing how social distancing will help in curbing the spread of the virus, he called out for a nation wide volunteer curfew on 22nd March from 7AM to 9PM, where he requested the citizens to stay in the houses and only to come out when it is too important.He called this Janta Curfew, which is a curfew for the people, to the people and by the people. He gave a reference to his childhood when he had seen war blackout or drills done by municipals to keep a check on these conditions. To make this curfew a success he asked help from various organisations like NGO, sports and religious organizations to aware the people about it. Citing the need of the hour, Modi said that this is a necessary step to take. Emphasizing on the role of various govt employees who are working on airports hospitals and health departments, the prime minister praised all of them. He also asked for an initiative in order to thank all these workers. he asked the citizens to celebrate these people by either clapping or ringing a bell at 5 PM on 22nd March.
Prime Minister also informed the nation about that a 'Economy reinforcement team' has been made to take care of various economic decisions need to be taken during the fight with corona. He also pointed out that there's no need to stock grocery and daily use items in the houses as there will be no lockdon or supply stoppage of any kind. Hopefully it will ease the crowd stocking grocery and ration items in supermarkets in Mumbai.
Number of confirmed corona cases has raised to 151 with three deaths due to the virus.
